Sr. Dr. Noralfishah Sulaiman
Head

Dr Noralfishah Sulaiman is the Head of KANZU Research: Resilient Built Environment Research Group, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). She joined UTHM in 2002 and graduated her PhD in Built Environment from University of Salford, Manchester, UK in 2011. Dr Sulaiman’s expertise lies in the fields of Resilient City Research (RCR), Resilience in Aging (RIA), Real Estate and Facilities Management, Information Technology in Real Estate, Internet of Things in Housing Sector, Social Care Facilities Management as well as her recent focus of interest, Disaster Management with particular reference to vulnerable communities, Resilient Cities and Climate Change. She is also working closely with Malaysian Government in many consultancy projects such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) in construction projects, Social Care Practices delivery audits, and Facilities Management Training. She is currently leading several research projects in Malaysia such as Adopting Resilience City Framework to Local Government of Malaysia, Developing Resilient City Index for Malaysian Local Authorities, Development of Resilience in Aging (RIA) Toolkit for Assessing Performance of Residential Care Homes for the Elderly in Malaysia, Managing Islamic Real Estate in Malaysia and many more. She also involves in many international research projects together with several universities in the UK such as University of Salford, University of Central Birmingham, South Bank University and University of Manchester. She was the Principal Investigator (Malaysia) of CLIMATISE project (http://climatise.net/) which developed mitigation and adaptation strategies for floods in Malaysia funded by British Council Newton Fund. She also led a project with Centre for Disaster Resilience (CDR), University of Salford to evaluate the vulnerabilities of elderly people from flood disaster in Malaysia named Incorporating Vulnerability Of Elderly in Disaster Management (INVENT). Presently, she is involving with a research project funded by Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) is the UK’s main agency for funding research in engineering and the physical sciences. The title of the research project is A Collaborative Multi-Agency Collaboration Platform for Building Resilient Communities (MOBILISE).
